In order to keep their hopes of a first round bye alive, Clutch Gaming took down the Golden Guardians and set up a potential tie-breaker match in the NA LCS.

After a long and drawn out match that featured plenty of exciting plays from both teams, Clutch Gaming have defeated the Golden Guardians to set up a potential tie-breaker match later on in the day. Here’s a brief breakdown of the match.

First blood was secured by Clutch Gaming, with a roaming gank onto the mid lane to put pressure on the map. After a period of relative calmness, a large fight erupts in the bot lane costing Clutch four deaths in exchange for a single kill. In the aftermath both teams trade turrets in different lanes, before the Golden Guardians move to secure the Dragon at the cost of one death. As the skirmish spreads over to the mid lane, Clutch Gaming are able to pick up another kill, levelling out the kill score.

As both teams look for control of the Rift Herald, the Golden Guardians make an engage onto some of the Clutch squad, before reinforcements arrive to force them back and claim a kill. With GGS forced away, Clutch are able to secure the Rift Herald unopposed. As the teams then look for vision control over Baron, a team fight breaks out, costing GGS the lives of four of their members, though they are able to claim one back during the fight, and one more in the aftermath.

As Clutch Gaming secure their first Dragon of the game, GGS mid laner Hai “Hai” Du Lam manages to find the enemy AD Carry in the river, taking him down for a quick kill. As the teams again clash around Baron, the buff is secured by Clutch Gaming while both teams trade single kills. With the bonus pushing power, Clutch Gaming choose to shove in the bot lane, trading single kills as they push their attack into the base of GGS to take down the bot inhibitor.

After pushing in the bot and mid lanes, Clutch pull back to secure their second Dragon of the game before moving to the top lane to continue the siege. The Golden Guardians manage to hold off Clutch for the time being, forcing them to pull back from the base and chasing them back into the jungle where the teams trade kills in an extended skirmish.

As the second Baron spawns, Clutch Gaming elects their main tank to hold off the Golden Guardians, buying time for the rest of the team to flee the engage. Clutch Gaming make a play for the Elder Dragon, securing the buff and a kill before moving back towards the base of GGS to continue their siege. As the fight drags on in the base, Clutch are finally able to take down the nexus to reignite their hopes of securing a playoffs bye.
