While neither team can advance, that doesn't mean they're slacking off, as OpTic Gaming takes down CLG in the NA LCS

With their hopes of playoffs already dashed, CLG and OpTic were really just playing for pride. Though it might not seem like a lot, with the way these teams played, clearly that was enough incentive to put on a show. Here’s a brief breakdown of the match.

CLG managed to secure first blood with a gank on the top lane, though OpTic responded in turn, keeping the top lane mostly level. OpTic made a play in the mid lane, scoring another kill, but losing pressure elsewhere on the map in response. CLG took down the first turret of the game with the pressure they created in the top lane, though OpTic managed to secure the first Dragon of the game. The push in the top lane allowed CLG to put up another kill, further cementing their hold on that portion of the map.

OpTic made a play on the bot side of the map, scoring another kill, though CLG responded by taking the Rift Herald. Using the Rift Herald, CLG took down a turret in the mid lane, as both teams prepared for the next Dragon to spawn. After an extended skirmish, CLG were forced to withdraw and let OpTic take the Dragon, though no-one lost their lives in the encounter.

OpTic catch out CLG’s support in the mid lane to put up another kill before they begin pushing in the lane, taking their first turret of the game. A skirmish in the bot lane allows CLG to score another kill and take a turret to spread the pressure across the map. In response, OpTic attack the top lane, picking up three kills and looking for the Baron. With the extra power, OpTic begin to siege the base of CLG, taking down two inhibitors before scoring another kill and withdrawing.

When OpTic returned, they focused on the final inhibitor, taking it down and wiping CLG in the ensuing team fight. Though neither team would advance as a result of this match, the statement of what this team is capable of was still made heading into day 2 of the final week.
