While the playoffs picture of the EU LCS is still in flux, the battle for second place just became a little smaller, with G2 knocking Vitality out of the running and setting up a tie-breaker match between Splyce.

It may be the last day of the regular season, but that doesn’t mean this will be the last game played by one of these teams. With today’s victory, G2 now stand tied with Splyce for second place, setting up a tie-breaker match for later in the day, while also knocking Vitality back into main pack.

The game started with a solo kill in the top lane, before a larger team fight broke out in the bottom side of the map, and while G2 didn’t score first blood, they did manage to gain an early lead. Trading control of the Dragon for the first Turret, Vitality also picked up another kill to level out the score. A larger fight resulted in multiple kills for Vitality as they secured the Rift Herald, before moving on to trade turrets and take down their first Dragon of the match.

Both teams battled across the map, trading kills and turrets alike, before G2 were able to press the attack long enough to take down an inhibitor and open the base of Vitality to minion pressure. After pulling back to secure their second Dragon, G2 again engaged in a team fight with Vitality, though they would come off second best again, losing more than they gained from the encounter.

After rallying their forces, G2 again struck out at the base of Vitality, taking down the inhibitor and securing their third Dragon, before losing out on Baron control. With the Baron secured, Vitality was able to make their own push, attacking the base of G2 and taking down an inhibitor for themselves. Both teams continued to battle back and forth, with multiple casualties on both sides, before G2 finally pulled back to secure the Elder Dragon. While Vitality was able to take down Baron again, the power given to G2 proved too strong as they took down multiple members of Vitality and destroyed their base.
